WOW! It has really been a while. I have been one busy lady lately, but I cannot deny that I have missed blogging. Nerdy as it may be, I have missed it. So! Im’ baaaaaaaaa-aaaaack! :)
What have I been so busy with lately, you ask?? Well….not only the normal chaos of the Rodgerson household, but the renovations are still under-way. And when I use the word “renovations” I want you to really understand what I mean….you see, “renovations” in our house translates to “projects going on every where, all of the time.” The wonderful thing is that now I am starting to see some finished projects. Finished projects make my heart sing. (Remember, I am a list person. Finished projects are things I can check off of my list.)
*Disclaimer-don’t be fooled, there are still MANY unfinished projects…but I’m looking on the bright side of things.*
Seeing these finished projects made me want to share them with the people we love. So I decided to plan Luci’s 2nd birthday party at our house. Yes, among the renovations. Yes, while I have one million other things going on. Yes, I may be crazy. But, crazy or sane, planning Luci’s big day has been super fun and the best part is that Matt has helped with a lot of it. I am very lucky to have married someone nerdy…I mean crafty… like me. Her party is circus themed. Hey, I figure our house is already a 3-ring act, might as well bring on the circus!
*My husband made these in PhotoShop. I created the poem and helped design them.
Party Favors…. Animal Crackers and Cotton Candy
*We made stickers for the baggies of treats.
*I found these cute party animal cut outs at the dollar store to make the banner. A little twin and ribbon later, and you have a birthday banner. I have several in all different lengths.
Gifts for Luci’s friends
*I’m using the popcorn container as the “goody bags” and loaded them with circusy items I found at Dollar Tree, Target’s Dollar Spot, and Oriental Trading.
-animal finger puppet
-glow in the dark bracelet
-circus rubber ducky
-2 circus tattoos
I attached a “Thank you” from Luci onto the crazy straw…it’s a game ticket!! Cuteness!!
Circus Lolly Pop close-up
*We made stickers for the lolly pops and I tied ribbon around the sticks. They are just so cute, I knew you wanted to see them close up :)
And what’s a party without the birthday girl’s party dress?!?!
T-shirt tutu dress (inspired by the very talented Ashley)
Here is a close-up of the 2. I used a stencil to trace out the 2, ironed on the fabric adhesive, then stitched it to the t-shirt. The stitching was the WORST part. I don’t say that to scare you…but merely to warn you that you may throw your sewing machine across the room. Beware.
After the 2 was stitched on (I’m told this is called applique work), I sewed on the 3 layers of tulle (red, blue, and yellow) and added a few embellishments. That was the FUN part.
Don’t forget the matching hair bows!!
*I made these hair clips out of the small metal hair clips (I purchased them at Sally’s), ribbon, and buttons. (You can find other cute hair clips when you visit super crafty Heather‘s blog.)
*Update: Pictures of L’s Circus Party can be found here.
