When my daughter was a baby and first started eating solids, my husband and I made all of her baby food ourselves. She was a great eater. Whatever we gave her, she ate happily.
Now that L is 2, she seems to think she has “choice” in what she eats. Therefore, veggies have been on the “back burner,” so to speak. I’ve tried carrots, corn, green beans, peas, spinach, broccoli….will not eat it. I have no desire in fighting at meal times and I don’t want to make meal time a traumatic experience, but L needs to eat her veggies!!!
I was discussing this veggie fiasco with a mommy friend of mine and she informed me of a very tricky, very sneaky, very smart solution. Breakfast smoothies. The tricky, sneaky, smart part? Hidden veggies. Oh yeah. You read it correctly. Hide the veggies in the smoothie with other deliciously healthy treats like fruit, juice, yogurt, etc. I even added a little vanilla extract. This mommy friend is a GENIUS!
