Advent Calendar & Holiday Decor

I am having so much fun making Christmas gifts and holiday crafts! I wanted to share with you the advent calendar I made! It was super easy!

You will need:
-24 gift tags
-twine
-scissors
-pretty pens/markers
-stickers or other embellishments
-tacks

How do you make the calendar? Good question! : )
1. Number your gift tags with a pretty marker. You could also use stickers.
2. Embellish tags with stickers, rhinestones, glitter, etc.
3. Come up with 24 fun activities and write them on the backs of the gift tags.
4. Hang 4 rows of twine. I used tacks to keep them up.
5. Tie the gift tags in 4 rows of 6 to the twine. I started with 24 and went backwards to 1.
6. Each day flip over the gift tag to reveal the special activity!! So fun!!

Some of the activities on our advent calendar:
1. Walk the neighborhood and look at lights
2. Open a special gift {early}!
3. Paint ornaments for family members.
4. Decorate cookies.
5. Visit the temple lights.
6. Watch a Christmas movie with popcorn.
7. Make holiday treats.
8. Take holiday treats to neighbors.
9. Decorate a card for a family member.
10. Read the Christmas story by the tree.
11. Sit by the fire pit and drink hot chocolate with marshmallows.
12. Santa art (craft)
13. Angel Tree shopping.
14. Donate canned foods to a local charity.
15. Visit Glendale Glitters as a family.

The calendar makes the holiday season SO fun!! Do you use an advent calendar in your home?

  1. Super cute and easy! Love your other decor as well! :)

  2. Love the advent! So cute! And all of your decorations are amazing! I finally got motivated and partially decorated tonight! I don’t know if I will get around to getting the rest of the stuff out, but the tree is up!

  3. What a fabulous idea! Thanks so much for linking it up at gettin’ crafty on hump day!!! :)

  4. How do you do it? You have time for all of this AND manage to run the best classroom around! Love it!!! :)

  5. Very colorful advent display.

  6. I LOVE the idea of putting little ideas of things to do instead of gifts for each day. Such a great idea. We do an advent calendar now with small gifts each day (shes 19 mos), but would love to do something like this instead of getting a small gift for each day. Thanks!

  7. So simple and cute! I’m sure your kids will love it! I think it’s such a great idea to have fun things to do as a family in the advent :)
