Mommy Tell All Monday: Mommy Time Out

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group®, PEOPLE Magazine & Hershey’s, but all my opinions are my own. #HersheysPeople #pmedia

There are amazing days in motherhood… more than the not-so-amazing days, I think. I spend the majority of my days with my daughter and I really wouldn’t have it any other way. And even on those long days (because there are LONG days), I try to find the amazing PARTS of my day. Whether it’s a small victory like getting the dishwasher unloaded and reloaded, or a big victory like teaching my 5 year old simple addition. I try to find at least one…and most times I can find more. Something else I try to do to maintain my sanity as a stay at home/work at home mom, is take a “Mommy Time Out.” Yes. You read that correctly. I give myself a Time Out. If you don’t give yourself Time Outs, mommas, you need to. Stat.

This past Friday night, I gave myself a Time Out. At 9:30PM. At Target. Sometimes you just need a good magazine and some chocolate. Am I right?

See. Now you want to give yourself a Time Out, don’t you?

I enjoyed my 30 minute ‘me time’ in Target without any interruptions, paroozing MY favorite aisles including home decor, apparel, and the Halloween section.  It’s nice to get a breather, even just for 30 minutes. As I was checking out I grabbed my fave magazine (PEOPLE Magazine) and a bag of Hersey’s Kisses. Never can go wrong with those 2 items.

The next day I felt just a bit more refreshed and ready to go back at that thing called “Motherhood.” So after my daughter’s soccer game Saturday morning, we headed home to make a fun Hersey’s Kisses Halloween treat! So fun and kid-friendly.

I’ve seen these cute Witch Hat Cookies at several Halloween parties, fall church activities, and online throughout the years. They are our go-to Halloween treat because they are so easy to make and so very tasty too. All you need are Hersey’s Kisses chocolates, icing, and a circle chocolate cookie of your choice. Lay the cookies chocolate side up, unwrap your Hersey’s Kisses, added icing to the centers of the cookies, and carefully place an unwrapped Hersey’s Kiss on top. And now you have Hersey’s Kisses Witch Hats that your kiddos will get a kick out of. Happy kids = happy mommy.

Once my girl was off to bed later that night, I decided to flip through my PEOPLE magazine…instead of folding the mounds of clean laundry that lay on my bed. Insert: Extension of Mommy’s Time Out. Momma’s gotta do what momma’s gotta do. The laundry will be here tomorrow.

I also may have had a few left over Hersey’s Kisses. #judgeme

Now that I’ve talked you into taking a Mommy Time Out to Target (I know, twist your arm, right?), grab a $2 off coupon for PEOPLE Magazine and Hersey’s Dish Candy while supplies last!! I LOVE me a good coupon! Click HERE to print yours off.

Remember mommies, it’s necessary to take time for ourselves. To get a breather and take in the messy, amazing blessings all around us. Your challenge this week? Take a Mommy Time Out and do something for yourself. Read a magazine. Eat some chocolate. Paint your nails. Catch up on a series on Netflix. Do your thang, momma. Even if it’s only for 30 minutes on a Friday night.

Thank goodness for sweet, sassy children who brighten and enrich our lives. Thank goodness for small victories. Thank goodness for chocolate. Thank goodness for Mommy Time Outs. And thank goodness for motherhood.
