Hello and Happy Saturday, y’all! I am so excited that my sweet friend Siri is continuing to contribute for Mine for the Making! Today she is sharing Three Must-Have Fashion Accessories for Post Pregnancy.
Hi Everyone! It’s Siri from Of Pumpkin Thieves and Buffalo Wings!
I am so honored to be back guest posting for Kara again this year! Last year I was posting about home decor, but this year my posts will be all about fashion!
Fashion is something that is near and dear to me since I am a photographer and I love continually developing my own style!
I think this quote by Rachel Zoe best describes how I feel: “Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.”
Because I’ve had my own distinct style for quite a while, I wasn’t quite prepared for the changes that would take place in my post-pregnancy body. I really needed to find accessories that complimented me
as I tried to gain back my confidence, and help my body heal.
It’s not easy to look in the mirror and see someone standing there who you barely recognize, but somehow when I look in the mirror with my baby girl in my arms, it all makes sense. I had to give a lot to get her here in my arms where she belongs.
As I tried idea after idea after idea for fashion accessories, I finally found the three things that worked for me! I’ve been losing weight each month and during the process, I’ve discovered my favorite accessories for styling my wardrobe.
My three must-haves for post pregnancy fashion are:
Cardigans give your post-pregnancy body a nice comfortable layer with a little flow so you can wear pre-pregnancy clothing with a little extra cover for comfort. Target has them in every color imaginable too.
They match everything! And cardigans are awesome ALL the time, so it’s a win-win!
When you feel like you aren’t quite back to your pre-pregnancy body yet, a small belt can accentuate your waistline instead of letting you look like you are drowning in clothes. You can still have a loose comfortable fit, but that belt will help flatter your figure.
3. (And this is the practical one) Teething Jewelry
My little lady loves to chew on everything, which for a while, made me feel like I couldn’t wear jewelry any more. Wrong! You just need to find baby friendly jewelry or teething jewelry!
I love my necklaces from Mama & Little and so does my baby girl! She is always chomping on them
and they are 100% safe for her.
Meanwhile, I am always looking good without having to worry!
I know it’s a hard journey for most (definitely for me) to lose that pregnancy weight and feel comfortable in your own skin again. Finding ways to make your outfits work for you will help the journey be a little less frustrating.
I work every day on helping my body get back to where it was, and though it will always be much different than it was before, I’m proud of my body for bringing my precious Svea into this world.
For that great sacrifice, it’s worth it to care for myself and be patient with my body as it heals.
I hope this gives you some ideas for dressing your post-pregnancy body, whether that is now or in the future!
Thanks for having me Kara!
