Flower Flips {tutorial}

How was your weekend?
Ours was awesome! We had a Family Date Night, cleaned/decluttered/organized our house, did laundry, worked on home renovation projects, played board games, watched movies, and attended church. Don’t you just LOVE the weekend? Me too.
I wanted to share a simple, girly summer project with you all today!
The other day my daughter, Luci, told me that she didn’t want to wear her new brown flip flops because they were “bo-ween” (boring). “Boring?” I asked her. “Well, how do we fix that? What would make them fun to wear?” And my fashionista, crafting princess replied, “They need to be pink with big flowers and jewels in the middle.”
Challenge accepted.
SO easy and SO cute and SO worth 5 minutes of your time.
I let Luci pick out the flowers and rhinestones from my craft hoard stash. She chose big pink flowers and purple rhinestones for the center. I explained the flips had to stay brown, but she was so excited for the flowers and jewels she didn’t care.
The steps are simple: Using your glue gun, glue the layers of silk flowers together in the center (I used 3 layers); hot glue the rhinestones in the center of the flowers; then using your heavy duty glue (E6000) glue the flower onto the flip and clip in place.
I allowed the flips to dry for 6 hours and then Luci proudly wore them around the house and out on our errands.
She even said, “I love my flips now! You’re the best mom ever!”
See! Totally worth 5 minutes. *winks*
Have a great week, my friends!!
Tomorrow I hope to share the new products I am adding to my shop
I’ve been a busy bee…I hope you will stop by and let me know what you think!

Handmade Toddler Fall Skirts

I made my mini a few skirts for fall using fabric I’ve had in my stash or left over from other projects.
I had all of the supplies on hand, so I consider this project free.
I didn’t take the time to write up a tutorial, but you can find good ones here, here, here, or here. They are cute and simple skirts.
Owl Skirt

What a ham!
I also made her felt owl clip {tutorial here}.
And the necklace is part of my new fall jewelry that will be in the MFTM shop soon.

Paisley Skirt

I also made her scrap fabric headband {tutorial here}.

Pumpkin Skirt

My little pumpkin ♥
The orange flower headband and necklace are also apart of the new fall inspired accessories that will be in the shop soon.

Thanks for stopping by, friends! I hope you have a great week!
Don’t forget everything in the shop is 25% off!

Bedtime Book Stash Re-Vamp

On a previous post (that you can visit here) I shared my love for spray paint. I found an old, wooden magazine rack at a Good Will for about $2 and spray painted it brown. This became my daughter’s Bedtime Book Stash. Totally cute…but not girly-fied enough.

I added flowers and pearls…how much girlier can you get? Mission accomplished!

Old Frame to Beautiful Bow Holder

 **This post has been updated**

One of my picture frames broke in our move to our new home a few months ago. I’ve been meaning to throw it away when I came across this blog Magnificently Marvelous. So, I decided to transform trash into treasure.

First I took out the broken glass and frame backing and threw them away. Then I spray painted the once black picture frame to a dark leather brown. I ran ribbon that matches my daughters bedroom vertically down the back of the frame and secured with hot glue. I bought a large pink daisy from Michael’s (on sale for $1), cut off the stem, and hot glued it to the frame. Then I clipped all of Luci’s bows to the ribbon. It now hangs in her bedroom. Cute. Cheap. Organized. And the best part is that her bows are easily accessible! Now I don’t have to go digging through a basket to find a matching bow! Ahhh… the simple things in life :)

Update: I decided to add pearls around the frame and one in the center of the pink daisy. Free string of pearls (given to me) and a little hot glue.
