Embrace Motherhood In This Season

I remember that from a very young age I wanted to be a mother. At 5, I knew I was going to have lots of children and by 8 I knew that I also wanted to adopt. I had a plan, y’all. And it was to be the very best mother I could possibly be. Now as an adult, I have come to find that your life doesn’t always go according to your plan. In fact, most times it doesn’t go at all the way you had planned. And that’s okay.

luandme3.jpg

Throughout my 8 years of being a mom, I am finally starting to embrace motherhood in this season. I think this means something different for every mother. We are all in different seasons of motherhood, and I am coming to find that they don’t last very long. The seasons of motherhood move rather quickly. Sometimes while we are in the rough, sleepless seasons, we don’t realize how fast they really go until we are looking back on them.

luandme4.jpg

For a long time, if things didn’t go according to my plan, I would be devastated, annoyed, angry, stressed, worrisome… anything but happy. As a little girl making my lifelong plans, I had no idea that having babies would be such a struggle for me. The thought of infertility didn’t even cross my mind.  So going through multiple miscarriages was a shock. And it certainly wasn’t a part of my plan.

luandme7

Over the years, I put a lot of pressure on myself… for multiple things but mostly due to the fact that my womanly parts weren’t working the way I wanted them to. I wanted lots of babies… all close in age. Why couldn’t I have that? Any time I saw pregnancy announcements, I would secretly wish that it were me announcing a new bundle of joy. I’ve cried a lot of tears. I’ve mumbled lots of angry words. I’ve questioned God. I’ve even yelled at Him a few times. “I’m a great mother, God! Why does this keep happening to me?!” And through all of that sadness and anger and confusion, I was missing something super important.

luandme2

Gratefulness. I was missing the whole point. Gratefulness that I AM a mother. That I was able to experience pregnancy and child birth and all the firsts. And that I’m not defined by how many earthy babies I have. And I’m not defined by my fertility journey. And I’m not even defined by my broken plans. I am a mother to a beautiful, smart, healthy, passionate, creative, funny, loving little girl. And I need to embrace that… and be grateful.

luandme5

I need to embrace that I am her momma. Embrace that she is at such a fun and quirky age. Embrace that I know more now than I did as a new mom. Embrace that we get to share in this journey together. So instead of focusing on how my life isn’t going according to my original plan, this life I have is still so good. This life I have is still so sweet and full of blessings. That needs to be my focus. Because if I am busy being upset about what I don’t have, I will miss out on what I do have. And I have a whole lot, y’all. This sweet girl made me a mother. My heart is so full because of her.

luandme6.jpg

Embrace the season you are in, mommas. We are so blessed to play this role. Remember that this time we have with our babies is fleeting. Embrace the moments. Be present. Breathe it all in. And be grateful.

Watercolor Vase

Hi Mine for the Making lovelies! Michelle here from Delicate Construction and today I have a super fun Mother’s Day gift idea! Also, if you paired this with your teacher’s favorite gift card, it would be equally as awesome for teacher appreciation. To top it off, this pretty Watercolor Vase is a $5 project!

So, I was strolling around Target and noticed a whole new section… a craft section! Wahoo! There was so much fun stuff in there but my eyes zoomed in on these vases that almost have a ceramic look and feel to them- I had to have one.

I brought it home and knew that it would be a fun art project for my daughter, Avery. So I set her up with paper, water, napkins and her watercolors. I love the way this type of surface absorbs the watercolors instantly so there is literally no dry time!

Avery got to work and I did what I always do when Avery is painting, clean up the kitchen or other quick task. Because that’s #momlife, am I right?

I love when Avery paints things for me because kids have a way of always creating something beautiful. Especially when you set them up for success with the right materials. The way the watercolors started melting into each other was awesome. This wasn’t even a messy project either which was an added bonus.

The final product is something I am in love with and I would certainly be thrilled to receive on Mother’s Day filled with fresh flowers or even paper ones! This one would be a keeper for sure…

Didn’t it turn out so cute? Get yourself to Target’s craft section and grab a couple of vases for your kids to make for Mother’s Day, Teacher Appreciation or for grandparents! Stop by Delicate Construction for more kid-friendly ideas!

Last Minute Mother’s Day Gift

Hi there friends!
I shared these two Mother’s Day prints earlier in the week at Fancy Little Things. I thought Id share the printables here just in case you missed them. They make a great last minute Mother’s Day gifts. Print them out small and use them as cards or print them out large and put them in a frame.

I designed the same print but in two color choices, sunshine and strawberry.
I absolutely adore this quote and I find it to be very true. A child learns their most important characteristics, lessons, and actions by watching their parents. A child learns how to show their love by the act of love shown to them or by witnessing actions of love towards others.  Therefore, it must be important for children to witness the love their father has for their mother, and vice versa.
If you like the printables, simply download, print, and place in a picture frame!
It’s the perfect Mother’s Day gift or piece of decor to display in your home.
{Please do not alter in any way or claim as your own. If you’d like to share this, please link back to Mine for the Making.}
Thanks so much for stopping by today!
To all you mommas out there, Happy Mother’s Day!

For the Crafty Moms {printables}

There’s a lot of us out there.
Crafty Moms.
You know. The mom that sews on the cub scout patches for the entire troop. Or the mom who volunteers to organize all of the class parties for the year. Or the mom that makes every Easter dress and Halloween costume. Or the mom who spends countless hours sewing the bedding and curtains for her new baby’s nursery. Or the mom that busts out the craft supplies on Saturday afternoon and makes a glittery mess with her kiddos. Or the mom who bakes dozens of cupcakes for the community bake sale. Or even the mom that upcycles her kids’ winter clothes into new summer wardrobes.
There are all kinds of Crafty Moms out there.
And if you don’t consider yourself one, you probably have a friend, sister, mother, or grandmother that is a Crafty Mom.
In honor of the Crafty Moms out there, I created 2 exceptionally cute prints for you for Mother’s Day
Print one or both…it’s up to you!

Mother’s Day Tags {printable}

Do you know the next holiday I’m looking forward to?

MOTHER’S DAY

Aren’t you?!

(It’s May 13th in case there are any dad’s out there reading…)

I think it’s a pretty important holiday. After all, a mother is the of the family. The {hot} glue that holds everything together : )

This Mother’s Day, I want to do something a little different.
I want to do a little something to show my momma friends I appreciate their friendship.
To show them I love them.
To show them no matter our parenting styles, our family situation, our busy schedules…
they are cared for, appreciated, needed, and loved.
I thought I’d bake up some yummy treats and drop them off on each momma’s doorstep.
Of course every little package needs a cute little tag.

Aren’t these little tags cute?

I think they are just perfect for Mother’s Day.

Simply download, print on cardstock, cut out, hole punch, add twine or ribbon and attach to any gift you are giving to any momma.

Handmade Gifts From My Luci

Luci has the BEST sitter ever. For many reasons. And we are so thankful for her. In fact, Luci always includes Jacki in her prayers.
She is that awesome.
And she helped Luci make me the cutest, handmade Mother’s Day gift EVER.

The vase (jar) is decorated with little finger print flowers…

The card is also decorated with a finger print “mom” and a finger print heart to accompany this sweet poem….

I know, right?!

I told you….

So thankful for my sweet girl and so thankful for her sweet sitter.

Happy Mother’s Day

I love being a momma to this sweet girl.
I love that this lady is my momma.
Okay…technically she is our momma…
My mom is
strong
independent
kind hearted
silly
strong-willed
responsible
loving
reliable
tender
stubborn
organized
neat
multi-tasker
Okay so maybe she won’t smile at the entire list…but it’s cool mom. I am all of these things too. And it’s because of you : )
Happy Mother’s Day

I hope you all have a wonderful day..doing whatever it is that makes you smile.

Mother’s Day Craft

Hey friends! Today I am going to share a simple, handmade Mother’s Day gift that any momma or grandma would ♥!

My 3rd graders made these for their mommas for Mother’s Day.

What you will need:

-white paper

-colored construction paper or card stock

-glue

-paint

-paint brush

-poem

-2 little hands

-sink (for clean up)

Steps:

1. Using the paint brush, paint 2 little hands.

2. With fingers together, put hands together so that index fingers and thumbs on both hands are side-by-side.

3. Place hands on white paper and press down.

4. Lift hands straight up and wash up. Print should look like an upside down heart.

5. Let dry.

6.Turn paper around so the heart hand print is right side up and glue to construction paper/card stock. This creates a “frame” around the white paper.

7. Cut out poem and glue on paper.

8. Give your handmade Mother’s Day gift to your momma or grandma!

*I wrote the year on the back and then had them laminated too.

Here is a close up of the poem…

Simple, inexpensive, handmade gift to give the mommies in your life!

Will you be giving handmade gifts for Mother’s Day this year?
