Land of the Free because of the Brave {print}

I have a love/hate relationship with summertime.
I love all of the FUN things we get to do, the people we get to spend time with, the traditions that we share, the memories we make, and the holidays we celebrate.
But I hate the sweltering 111 degree sun and the fact that the ac is out on my car.
You can see why I have this relationship with summertime.
One thing is for sure… I celebrating Independence Day.
I love this country we live in.
I love the everyday freedoms and daily blessings I receive because of our courageous soldiers
I am so grateful for their sacrifices and for the sacrifices their families make…
So I can read what I want, eat what I want, listen to what I want, watch what I want, say what I want, write what I want, believe what I want, do what I want, love what I want, dream what I want, achieve what I want.
I am grateful for my freedom.
I am grateful for the brave.
God bless America.

We Will Never Forget {9/11}

I walked into my government class at about 7:18AM.
It was my senior year of high school.
The portable room was silent except for the TV….which everyone (who was present) stared at intently.

I remember being confused, anxious, nervous, scared, worried…
I called my mom right there in class and told her to turn on the news.
We both watch horrified, in complete silence for what seemed like forever.
Then she hurried off the phone to check on my Nana, who was a flight attendant and supposed to be flying out of New York that morning.

After a few hours my Nana was located and safe.
I remember the feeling of relief that washed over me knowing all of my family and friends were okay.
Yet still feeling so sad for our country…and the people who were tragically affected by this event.

Thankfully, we live in a country that doesn’t take crap from anyone.
Thankfully, our troops, fire fighters, policemen and women, doctors, and nurses, and the US citizens as a whole worked together and showed compassion for one another.

I am proud to be an American.
I am grateful for all of those who fight to keep my family and me safe.
I benefit from so many freedoms on a daily basis, and for that, I am forever thankful.

“If there is a spiritual lesson to be learned from our experience that faitful day, it may be that we owe God faithfulness… It should not require tragidy for us to remember him, and we should not be compeled to humilty before giving him our faith and trust. We should be with him in every season.” -Thomas S. Monson

We will never forget.
Smooch the ones you love!
Life is short…every single second counts.
God bless America!
