Handmade Gift Exchange @ Craftaholics Anonymous

I was so bummed when I missed out on the Handmade Gift Exchange last year, so I made sure to sign up for it at Craftaholics Anonymous this year.

I was partnered up with Chere from The Brickhouse Bunch. Such a sweet♥ she is! After chatting with her a bit through emails, I knew exactly what I wanted to make for her.

It was quite evident that Chere’s family is very important to her. Although her and her husband are very busy (working and being youth pastors), they seem to really value family time and being with each other. I thought a hand-painted family sign would be such a great gift for not only Chere, but her sweet family as well. Chere told me a few colors she decorates with and that she loves the beach.
Chere is actually a momma to 3 with a baby on the way!! She loves blog stalking (who doesn’t?!), crafting, being a youth pastor with her hubby, and being a mommy.
Thanks for being a great partner, Chere! So fun to make new friends in blogland!
Thanks to Linda for hosting such a fun gift exchange!!

For the Gardays

One of my most recent antique wooden signs…

Custom 3ft x 1 1/2ft hand painted sign.
I really love the way this one turned out.
What do you think?

Crushin’ on….

Crushin’ on this stuff lately…
My $12.99 black “bling” watch from Target.

Yes…another watch. I’m into them right now. My $12.99 white watch from Target.
These adorable gray flats that were on clearance for $9.98 at Target.

This hand-painted sign I made recently.

Adorable felt bow headbands in my etsy shop.

Sand art that my daughter made at her sitter’s/preschool this week.

 Enough said…

LOVE my gray ring from Love Stitched. I actually purchased my ring through Groop Dealz and saved a little too!

Swoon! I just finished making lovely cabachon rosette earrings for my shop. Wouldn’t these be just perfect for St. Patty’s Day??

I am SO in love with this song. Not familiar? Push play.

But most of all….I’m crushin’ on these two.

My baby will be 3 years old at the end of this month. Where does the time go?? I LOVE being this little girl’s mommy and watching her learn and grow into a beautiful and independent little lady.

What are you crushin’ on lately??

Hand-painted Signs

I have been busy working on some hand-painted signs lately and thought I would give you a look-see :)

The Coughlins
est. 2007
I made this sign for one of my best friend’s birthdays. I started out painting the piece of wood white. Then I washed over the white with brown paint to give it a rustic, worn look. I used my Silhouette and cardstock to make a stencil for the words. My friend picked brown and maroon for her colors, so I used a round/flat sponge brush and dabbed on the paint after taping the stencils in place. After a few touch ups, I used sandpaper to rough the sign up a bit. Lastly, I sprayed the sign with a clear coat of spray paint.
The Hall Family
est. 2005
This sign was made for Kristy at The DK Family who won my first ever giveaway!! She picked out the colors black and maroon. I did the same steps as the sign above, but I used black around the edges of the sign and wiped towards the center of the sign. I hope she likes it!

I am getting ready to make a few more signs. I think instead of using tape, I may try a temporary adhesive. It may save me some time and prevent bleeding of the paint. Have any suggestions on a good temporary adhesive??
Thanks for stopping by! I really appreciate all of my lovely readers! Looks like there will be another giveaway here shortly, so keep your eyes pealed!
I am linking these 2 signs up with the lovely linky parties listed in the “Linky Parties” tab at the top of my page. Feel free to join me! There are so many creative projects for fall, Halloween, and Thanksgiving out in blogland right now!

100+ Readers & A Giveaway!!

I can hardly believe it!! Mine for the Making now has 100+ readers! I am thrilled, flattered, overjoyed, ecstatic, and surprised. Thank you, lovely readers, for taking the time to read my little ol’ blog. Thank you for finding my posts somewhat interesting enough to follow Mine for the Making on our journey through life.

I started this blog in January (of this year) with NO idea what blogging was. Mine for the Making was a place to journal…to share and log our home rennovations, my crafts and projects, and to show off family photos and adventures. And realistically, this blog was for family and friends. I had no idea that “friends” could mean so much more in blogland. I have made so many new friendships simply out of starting this blog. I have also found so much inspiration from all of your blogs and the other blogs I follow and read on a daily basis. So much inspiration, in fact, that I have decided to open an etsy shop and have been busy getting things ready for it.

So, dear readers, I would like to take just a little bit of your time to show you my appreciation. It’s giveaway time! :)

I will be making a personalized, hand-painted, wooden sign for one lucky winner!!! If you win, you can pick out the colors of the sign so that it can match with whatever room you decide to put it in :)

How can I win this lovely little sign, you ask? Well, there are 3 ways to enter.
  1. First off, this giveaway is only for Mine for the Making readers. If you follow my blog, leave me a comment letting me know {one entry}.
  2. My button is located somewhere on your blog. Leave me a separate comment letting me know {one entry}.
  3. Mine for the Making is listed on your blog roll. Leave me a separate comment letting me know {one entry}.

So, you can have up to 3 entries to win this personalized sign. Just make sure you leave a separate comment for each. This giveaway is open until next Saturday the 4th and will close at midnight. I will announce the winner of the hand-painted sign on Sunday 5th.

Thank you again, readers, for making blogging so much more to me than just an “online journal.” Mine for the Making is a huge part of my life now, and I am enjoying the friendships and inspiration I’m getting along the way….keep it comin! :)

What are you waiting for? Ready, set, ENTER!

Giveaway closed. Thank you to all who were able to enter!

My Silhouette

Can I just tell you how much I LOVE my Silhouette?!?! I ordered it a while back and have been watching tutorials and exploring my new crafting machine. You can use it for vinyl, paper, glass etching, heat transfer, and even stenciling. This makes crafting way fun….

So fun, in fact, that my husband has used it to make a project or two…

For the t-shirt we used heat transfer….

This shirt was made for Matt’s cousin’s band. Pretty sweet right?

This is a sign I made for a dear friend who is getting married next year…

For the sign I made a stencil using card stock and hand-painted the words on with a circular sponge brush. I still need to go back and touch up the letters a little better. The paint color choice was inspired by my friends’ home decor.

I am getting ready to make holiday signs and blocks for the upcoming months. Good thing we have this wood stash….
