I am so excited to finally share this project with you! I made these adorable little guys a while back for one of my handmade sign auctions on Facebook in September and have wanted to blog about them ever since. I added a couple of fun things to them since the auction and now I’m more in love than ever. What do you think of my Fence Slat Pumpkin?
I know, right? So much shabby, chippy, glittery goodness!
If you want to make one for yourself, you need a few things…
- old fence slats
- paint sticks
- drill (Ryobi)
- jig saw or table saw (Rockwell Tools)
- Mod Podge
- sponge brush
- white paint
- paint brush
- clear matte spray paint (I love Rustoleum)
- hot glue gun & glue stick
First you want to lay out your fence slats (face down) close together. Use your saw to cut a stem piece from one of your fence slats and place it where you want it on your pumpkin (face down). Secure the slats together using the paint sticks and screws. Keep your screws away from the edge so that they aren’t in your way when you cut. Flip the slats over and draw out what you want your pumpkin to look like. Using your saw, cut on the line you drew. Be careful of your screws!
Using your paint brush, lightly brush the white paint over the top of the fence slats, giving it a white wash look. Allow time to dry. Then using the sponge brush, paint the stem with Mod Podge and sprinkle glitter on top. Spray lightly with clear spray paint to seal.
Hot glue the doily where you want it on the front of the pumpkin and done!
Set it inside or outside your how for all of fall. Isn’t it pretty?? Be sure to let me know if you make one! And if you don’t feel like making one, you can always order one from my shop.
Thanks for stopping by friends! See you soon.
